CNET reviews the Windows Media Center PC – the HP Pavilion a1250n here. The system specs are fairly impressive:
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual-core processor with enhanced virus protection (2.0GHz)
- Windows XP Media Center
- 1.0GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
- 250GB hard drive
- Double-layer DVD±R/RW drive with LightScribe, CD-RW combo drive
- DVD-ROM drive
- Integrated ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 graphics
- 9-in-1 digital media card reader
but the best thing I can see is the price. It’s $849 at HPShopping.com here. Unfortunately it probably won’t cut it as a living room MCE system but it’s not a bad office one.
The verdict from CNET:
The HP Pavilion a1250n is a Media Center PC that’s better suited for general home use than integrated into your living room, but it delivers remarkable performance for the price.
