HP has decided to endorse the HD-DVD standard which signals that they will now support both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Up until this announcement, HP had decided to just support Blu-ray. Of course there were some politics involved here – HP decided to join the HD-DVD Promotions Group after the Blu-ray association declined to support a home networking standard that HP was pushing for called iHD. iHD would have simplified the distribution of video within a home network.
