LaptopMag reviews the 17 inch PowerBook model that Apple introduced back in October. This model ups the screen resolution to 1680 x 1050, has a longer battery life, and comes with the SuperDrive 8x DVD burner on all models. The real question is – should one get a PowerBook knowing full well that Intel based models will come out in the near future? Sure why not – Apple will continue supporting PowerPC systems for quite some time and by the time they finally do drop support, you can be sure it’ll be time to get a new system. The verdict from LaptopMag?
If you were already edging toward a wide-screen PowerBook, the new features have certainly sweetened the pot, doubly impressive when one considers that Apple has dropped the price $200. The changes may not be revolutionary, but Apple has improved upon an already terrific portable, once again raising the industry’s bar, if only ever-so-slightly.
