Sling Media introduces the SlingLink
The SlingBox is definitely one of the coolest gadgets of this year. If you’re not familiar with the SlingBox – it’s a device which connects to a video source in your home (such as a DVD player, VCR, or cable box) and then transmits the video over the Internet to wherever you are – essentially placeshifting the video stream to your location. Yes they coined the term “placeshifting”. Now to support the SlingBox, Sling Media has introduced the SlingLink. It’s basically a power line networking solution for the SlingBox. Why do you need one? Well most people probably don’t have a network connection near their television set but they definitely have power lines ready throughout the house. The SlingLink allows you to connect the SlinkBox to your powerline to your router which then gives the SlingBox Internet access. Not exactly new technology but definitely a new look.
