An S.G. Cowen & Company survey of 1000 U.S. Internet users has found that Google search engine users tend to be richer and also more experienced with the Internet than other search engine users. The longer people have used the Internet, the more likely they will use Google apparently. I don’t personally find 1000 users a large sampling but it does indicate the influence that Google has on everyday life and also on potential advertising revenues. Affluent audiences tend to be more willing to spend money and thus more businesses will want to be listed on Google and use Google advertising services. An important thing to note about such surveys – it’s important to see how users access the web and where these users come from. If you use AOL to sign onto the net, then you might be influenced to use AOL for searches – same goes for Yahoo and MSN. If you access from the workplace environment, maybe you’re more inclined to use Google. There are all sorts of consequences to think about here. Anyhow, it’s an interesting article anyhow.
