In a move surely timed to deflect some of the attention away from Microsoft’s new Xbox 360, Sony has announced that they have now shipped 100 million Playstation 2 game consoles. The PS2 was introduced back in March 2000 and reached the 100 million mark in five years and nine months – 4 years faster than the original Playstation. Sony sold the most PS2 consoles here in the US with 40.6 million followed by Europe and Asia.
