I have a love hate relationship with all in one personal computers. On one hand, I love the notion of having everything in one unit. It simplifies things and makes your surrounding environment pleasant to deal with… less wires and cables to worry about etc. On the other hand, having an all-in-one often makes upgrading later on very difficult if not impossible. Sony has come out with a new all in one system called the Sony VAIO VGC-VA11G and PC Magazine reviews it here. What’s cool about this system is the use of Windows Media Center making it a much more attractive solution for use in a living room environment. It has a Intel 6 series processor, 320GB HDD, ATI Radeon x700 graphics processor, and 1GB of RAM. It also has a widescreen 20inch monitor. So what does PC Mag think?

The VA11G falls just short of being the perfect all-in-one PC for any room in your house.

Why did it fall short?

Screen is hard to tilt. IR isn’t built into the chassis. TV/MCE control requires remote (or keyboard commands). No CableCard, HDMI in, or component video in. A bit pricey.
