I can’t believe this device is still around but I4U.com has managed to review the Microsoft MSN TV 2 Internet TV Console here. This device is designed for individuals with limited or no internet experience at all. Basically it’s Internet in a box designed for the television screen. This time around the MSN TV 2 works via broadband connections and you get a pretty nifty and easy user interface. The verdict from I4U?

Until interactive TV finally reaches the mainstream masses; the MSN TV 2 will fill that need giving you hours of entertainment enjoyment without the “hassle” factor.

The Shuttle XPC M1000 Home Theater PC generated a good amount of buzz a few months back when Shuttle finally launched it on their site. This was Shuttle’s first SFF case that didn’t look like the cube we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Shuttle. In fact the M1000 was designed to fit in alongside with your home theater system with its sleek thin black chassis housing a Pentium M processor. Good looks aside, I’ve been wondering whether Shuttle actually got it right with the M1000. ExtremeTech managed to get their hands on an M1000 and here’s their verdict:

Shuttle makes a bold statement with its home theater PC design, but the whole is less than the sum of the components.

I suppose that’s not surprising if yet somewhat disappointing. Here’s a few pictures of the box:

A Korean company called NextBase has a new DVD player out called the DVM-235. It uses a unique round design that looks more like a Roomba than a player (yes I’ve compared the Coby DVD player to a Roomba in the past too!). The player has a flip up 3.5 inch LCD panel which provides 75 degress of visibility. The DVM-235 supports DVD/SVCD/VCD/CD/MP3/JPEG optical disks and outputs in NTSC or PAL.

LaptopMag reviews the Gateway CX200 here - the first widescreen convertible notebook featuring a 14 inch display. You get a Pentium M (or a Celeron M if you prefer a cheaper system) system with 512MB of RAM and a 60 GB 5400 RPM HDD. The Tablet even comes with a dual layer dual format DVD writer! The verdict from LaptopMag?

Overall, the CX200 is a feature-rich and fast widescreen notebook that adds Tablet functionality without breaking the bank. We wish it were a pound lighter, but if you don’t need to frequently take it on the road, this convertible is one worth owning.
