The Shuttle XPC M1000 Home Theater PC generated a good amount of buzz a few months back when Shuttle finally launched it on their site. This was Shuttle’s first SFF case that didn’t look like the cube we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Shuttle. In fact the M1000 was designed to fit in alongside with your home theater system with its sleek thin black chassis housing a Pentium M processor. Good looks aside, I’ve been wondering whether Shuttle actually got it right with the M1000. ExtremeTech managed to get their hands on an M1000 and here’s their verdict:

Shuttle makes a bold statement with its home theater PC design, but the whole is less than the sum of the components.

I suppose that’s not surprising if yet somewhat disappointing. Here’s a few pictures of the box:
