Wafian has introduced the new Wafian HR-1 HDSDI Recorder – a crazy expensive workstation system designed for studio houses and video production facilities. The HR-1 is the first on-set 10 bit Direct-To-Disk HDSDI Recorder using the award winning CineForm Digital Intermediate Format. The system is capable of recording full resolution 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720 from an HDSDI feed. You’ll get enough space to record 9 hours of 10 bit 1920 x 1080 p24 footage when the hard drives are in mirrored configuration. If you put the RAID disks in striped, you’ll get 18 hours of recording space.
So how crazy expensive is this unit? 15,000 bucks but hey – it’s not a media center system so don’t confuse it as such (although it uses a popular HTPC case). The HR-1 is controlled by the front panel touch screen LCD. Footage can be immediately reviewed after shooting by connecting a HD camera to the system.
