Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 reviewed
DesignTechnica reviews the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 digital camera here. The R1 is the world’s first integrated lens digital camera to combine a professional grade 10.3 megapixel image sensor with a flexibility of live preview while shooting. You get an ultra wide Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T zoom lens and a free angle 2 inch LCD display. Some of the features include:
- Records images on Memory Stick PRO and Compact Flash Type 1/II media; powered by one NP-FM50 InfoLithium battery
- 10.3-megapixel CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality 18 x 24-inch prints
- 5x optical zoom; 2.0-inch vari-angle LCD display
- “Live” preview using Sony’s Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology
- Three color modes and RAW capture
The verdict from DesignTechnica?
There are no definitive conclusions to reach at this time but this camera offers a cornucopia of photographic delights. It’s in a strange spot since it’s the price of a quality D-SLR but doesn’t offer the flexibility of interchangeable lenses, a potential deal breaker for many photographers.
