Given my love for home theater PC’s, it’s not surprising for me to drawn to articles about small motherboards – hence my attention was drawn to ExtremeTech’s look at the WinFast NF4K8MC-EKRS microATX motherboard. This board accepts a Socket 939 processor (AMD Athlon 64 processor) and has an on board NVIDIA nForce4 chipset. Hmm sounds like a good combination for a small system right? Well not exactly – the audio output is a bit lacking and the chipset cooling fan a bit annoying. What’s ExtremeTech’s take on the board?
If you’re building a low-cost, compact Socket 939 system, then look no further than this board.
So it’s not a board for HTPCs maybe but definitely for small systems.
