If you’re waiting for that RAZR lookalike from Samsung called the A900 - take a look at a snapshot of the phone over at SprintUsers.com. It must be the picture but the phone looks a bit wide doesn’t it? For those that do not know this, the A900 will be coming out for Sprint Nextel.

PC Magazine reviews the latest Communicator from Nokia called the Nokia 9500 Communicator here. Similar to past Communicators, the 9500 continues the trend of having the keyboard along the side of the phone. You get to the keyboard by opening up the phone along its side. The phone supports tri-band GSM and has integrated Wi-Fi and EDGE support. PC Mag’s verdict?

This mobile office isn’t fast or powerful enough to justify its size, weight, and high price.

I’ll be honest - there are very few racing video games that I actually enjoy playing. I suspect it’s because I’m not really into the modding part all that much. However the new L.A. Rush game published by Midway may change my mind. You get to drive cars modded by the folks of “Pimp My Ride” (ok.. not really theirs per se but their game lookalikes) all around LA in the attempts to get back at a local kingpin. Check out the CNN review here.

LaptopMag.com reviews the InterWrite MeetingPad 400 / SchoolPad 400 here. Unlike traditional stylus tablets that are typically used by artists, the MeetingPad is specifically designed for the business folks who want to be able to scripple on presentations or Office productivity applications. The SchoolPad is the educational version of the MeetingPad and offers the same functionality. At a basic level, you can use the stylus to manipulate the cursor on your windows desktop - similar to a mouse replacement. You can also control presentations using the pad/stylus but more importantly, you can edit presentations on the fly with the stylus. The real key is having a conference room full of these MeetingPads where everyone can just write or draw on the presentation being displayed. Just try not to draw smiley faces.

CNET reviews the JVC GR-D295 camcorder here. The camcorder features:

  • Offers 25X optical and 800X digital zoom with spline interpolation
  • Clear LCD 2.5″ high resolution monitor reduces glare and reflections from the LCD screen
  • Night Alive feature facilitates full color shooting in extreme low light
  • Super High Band Processor to ensure excellent picture quality
  • Features built-in AC Power Adapter, full function remote and two data batteries
  • Comes with a color viewfinder

Their verdict?

A budget camcorder that offers a lot of zoom for the money, the JVC GR-D295 is worth consideration if you shoot mainly in brightly lit situations.

Yes it’s expensive but come on folks - the Voodoo ARIA just looks too cool!! Who wouldn’t want a bright red HTPC with a built in touchscreen interface? Wowzers. Ok.. I’ll wipe the drool off of my face now. Yes the bad part is the price (as it comes in at a whopping $4897 for the one PC Magazine reviewed) but geez it’s decked out. The review unit comes with an AMD Athlon 64 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 400GB of HDD space, an NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT card, DVD burners, and of course the built in touchscreen display. The verdict from PC Magazine?

With a built-in touch screen and high-powered (but quiet) components, the Voodoo ARIA will keep a select group of well-heeled users happy.

GearLive has a humorous look at the new Nintendo game - Dance, Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. The game itself comes with a dance pad which means you can start dancing immediately to play the game as opposed to using the controller. I never got into the DDR craze but then again, I never thought dancing in a video game was all that cool. But it looks like I’m dead wrong on this one. One of these days I’ll try it out (when I’m a bit more eloquent on the dance floor!) In the meantime, try this game out with kids - they’ll show you how the game is really played!

Let’s face it folks - the products that we manufacture here in the US can be utterly boring sometimes. Case in point - check out this flash drive manufactured in Japan that’s in a shape of a small Sake bottle. How cool is that? Of course you probably don’t want to carry a Sake shaped USB drive while you’re at work otherwise they’ll think you actually might be drinking on the job! In any event, this is right up there with the sushi shaped USB keys.

I swear - the folks at the Gadgeteer are big SCOTTeVEST reviewers. Every so often I’ll drop by their site and I’ll see a new review of some SCOTTeVEST jacket. This time it’s a review of the 237D jacket which is meant to be worn 237 days out of the year (get it?). Like other SCOTTeVEST jackets, the 237D comes with LOADS of pockets - heck if you have that many gadgets to carry then man.. you’ve got some issues! Anyhow, let’s see what the Gadgeteer thinks of this jacket.

Like all of SCOTTeVEST garments that we’ve reviewed in the past, this one has been made with quality materials and designed to last. With 33 pockets, you are almost certain to have the storage capacity to do away with your gear bag, or at least carry a much much smaller one.

Here’s a cool convergence device - combine a laser pointer, presentation controller, and flash key all into one product called the BT Logics Memory Pointer. The Memory Pointer is actually two pieces - the laser pointer and an RF receiver which connects to the PC. The laser pointer also has built in controls that will let you control a slide show. All this information communicates to the RF receiver which also doubles as a 128 MB flash drive.
