There’s an interesting article over at News.com about various language technologies that will be revealed at CMU on Thursday. The technologies are designed to make it easier for people who speak different languages to understand one another. The various new technologies include:

  • Lecture Translation: translating speech from one language into another on the fly without restrictions
  • A new technology using directional speakers to beam translations of a speech to specific listeners in different languages
  • Translation glasses – read transcribed text on a small LCD screen.
