Betcha didn’t know this (or perhaps you just didn’t care) but OpenOffice 2.0 has been officially released (according to BIOS magazine). The free open source productivity suite comes with a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation builder, and a database for both Windows and the Linux platforms. Version 2.0 has been in development for roughly two years and is now finally out of beta. This is a great alternative to the Microsoft Office suite and offers extensive (though not perfect) compatibility with the popular Office suite.
