Sony’s new VAIO VA Series All-in-one TV-PC
Sony has released a new all-in-one PC/monitor unit called the VAIO VA TV-PC. The new VAIO VA includes a whopping 20 inch LCD display with a capable Intel Pentium 4 processor 640 system running at 3.2 GHz. Targeting the home theater environment, the VAIO VA includes Microsoft’s Windows Media Center 2005 OS which allows you to view or record live TV and watch DVD videos. The system ships a 2.1 channel speaker system but you get Sony’s Sound Reality Technology to mimic surround sound.
Other features include:
- 20†WXGA LCD90 with XBRITEâ„¢ technology (1366×768)
- DVD+R Double Layer / DVD±RW Drive4
- 1GB RAM and 320GB hard drive2
- ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X700 256MB Video Memory
- Integrated Wireless LAN3
Just a thought – Doesn’t it always seem like Sony is actually split on how it wants to approach the digital home? On one hand it offers systems using Windows Media Center while on the other hand it also offers PC’s designed for the living room without MCE. It’s somewhat confusing at times and it points to an unclear alliance between Sony and Microsoft for the living room.
