Windows Media Center update to include support for Xbox 360
If you’re a Windows Media Center 2005 owner, be on the lookout for “Update Rollout 2″ which should be making its appearance today on Windows Update. The new update includes a ton of new changes being made to the MCE2005 OS including added support for the Xbox 260.
The update includes support for streaming music, videos, and photos from an MCE system to an Xbox 360 console, essentially making the 360 a client of MCE systems.The 360 will also be able to receive high definition content from MCE systems which can be streamed now in this new update rollout.
Other features in the update include:
- Support for DVD changers
- Away mode – an on/off function to MCE’s
- New DVD burning capabilities
- Support for additional Hi-Def tuners
- New deals with content providers – additional MTV and VH1 programming; AOL Pictures, AOL Radio; Akimbo service; Major League Baseball; Game xStream and Discover Games
