Shuttle is introducing a new addition to their XPC lineup of small form factor PCs called the XPC SD11G5. The goal for the new system is to create a silent PC that meets the price and technical simplicity required to be successful in the mainstream market. Basically make the PC quiet enough and fast enough that people will accept it and not cough at the costs.
With the SD11G5, Shuttle followed the KISS (Keep it Simple, Silent) rule. (No not Keep it Simple Stupid! What were you thinking?). The system uses a single fan designed coupled with Shuttle’s award winning ICE heat pipe technology to bring system noise down to a minimum. Another reason the system is so quiet is the use of mobile processors in the form of the Intel Pentium M and Celeron M. No dual core Pentium 4’s in this little bad boy. The power supply is fanless providing up to 220 watts of power to the entire system.
How low does the system go? Using standard components, Shuttle claims the system produces less than 24db of noise. Pretty sweet.
