Sony announced the new VAIO Type X Personal Computer at Japan’s CEATEC 2005. This is one sweet looking PC – looking much more like a stereo component than a actual computer. It’s loaded with an Intel Pentium D 820 processor, 1GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphics card, digital TV tuners, dual format dual layer DVD burners and Windows Home. Umm yeah… Windows Home. I don’t quite know what to make of that except that perhaps Sony doesn’t want to necessarily buy into Microsoft’s vision of the Home Entertainment system with Windows Media Center Edition. Well it wouldn’t be a big deal to me because if I actually purchased this box, I would instantly install MCE anyday. Can you imagine placing this unit below that new HDTV monitor with HDMI support? SWEET!
