Pinpoint Consumer Electronics announced the launch of the Neuros MPEG-4 Video Recorder device which it claims is the “digital answer to VCR”. It operates on the same principles as a VCR allowing users to record video from any video source (such as a TV, Camcorder, DVD player etc). Users can then play back the files on devices such as the Sony PSP, laptops, media players and computer desktops. The device is the size of a PDA and weighs around 140g. It is compatible with Pro Memory Stick Duo, CF cards, and SD cards.

If you’re a Yahoo Mail user (and who isn’t?) then you might be interested to know that Yahoo has a beta program up for the new Yahoo Mail system which will be unveiled fairly soon. If you’re not on the beta list, then check out PC Magazine’s review of the new UI. It feels very much like Microsoft Outlook except you’re using a web browser. Here’s the verdict from PC Mag:

Yahoo! makes a huge leap forward with its new user interface. Some issues still need to be ironed out, and we’d like to see Yahoo! better integrate the calendar and contacts list with the mail application, but we’re excited by what we’ve seen so far.

Very nice indeed. I’ve been an avid fan of gmail in recent months but my first webmail experience is still from Yahoo mail. Could this new UI bring me back to Yahoo? just maybe!!!

Ford is planning to push harder into the hybrid market by ramping up production of its hybrid vehicle lineup from a few thousand this year to over 250,000 cars by 2010. Ford is also planning on increasing the number of flexible fuel vehicles which can run on either pure gasoline or gasoline blended with ethanol. It’s great to see more and more car manufacturers release hybrid vehicles. Hopefully this will continue to spur development of hybrid vehicles and produce ever more fuel efficient vehicles with better, more powerful engines.

We apologize for the downtime that we had this weekend. There was a server issue that brought us down for most of the weekend but we’re finally back up and running. There’s a lot going on so I’ll try and update accordingly. Unfortunately work has been hell on my end so things have also been slow because of that.

One last thing. I got engaged to a wonderful woman named Yvonne a few weeks back. Wooo hoooo! Have a wonderful week folks!

If your car just isn’t fast enough perhaps you’ll consider saving your cash for the upcoming Volkswagon Bugatti. The new VW Bugatti 1.4 packs 1001 horsepower into a all wheel drive two seater that is made out of carbon fiber materials with a 16 cylinder engine. What’s the price? Oh only 1.24 million dollars. I guess I better start saving up the pennies I find in the streets! Truth is - this car has been in development for years with some shaky history behind it. Hopefully VW’s ironed out all the kinks but damn.. $1.24 million bucks? Umm I think I can put my money to better use.

The Gadgeteer reviews the Battery Xtender Alkaline Battery Recharger here. Ok.. we all know that Alkaline battery chargers have been horrible in the past but would this device prove to be worthwhile? Could it actually put charge back into a nearly dead battery? Here’s the verdict:

The Battery Xtender has really surprised me because I didn’t think it was possible to safely recharge alkaline batteries to a new-new capacity. Now that it has been repeatedly proven to me by this device, I am happy to recommend it. If you are tired of constantly replacing the alkaline batteries in your electronic devices, your kids’ toys, or your AV remote controls, then you should take a look at the Battery Xtender. Not only will it help lighten the load on your wallet, it will also lighten the load on our landfills.
