If at first you don’t succeed…

That seems to be the case for OQO. They’ve gone ahead and released the follow on successor to the Model 01 called the Model 01+. Yeah.. real inventive. The new 01+ has more memory, a larger hard drive, an internal speaker (wow.. who would have thought of that!) and a better digitizer. Other features include:
* 1 GHz processor
* 512MB of RAM
* 14 ounces in weight
* 4.9″ x 3.4″ x 0.9″

How much does all this portability cost? A cool $1899.. and that’s the problem. This device just doesn’t make sense for the average consumer or even business person. It’s best geared towards vertical markets that need a full blown OS like Windows XP in a super small form factor. However, a 1GHz processor running XP just doesn’t cut it folks. OQO still faces the same problem with the 01+ as it did with the 01. How do you market it? If you want something this small, you might as well stay with a PDA of some sort. They’re cheaper and far more functional (and smaller too!). If you really need an XP device, go for a cheaper and slightly larger laptop. Sorry folks.. I just can’t imagine something like the OQO on consumer desktops.
