Starting today, Gmail users can begin to play with the newest product release from Google - Google Talk. This is of course in beta but the new application allows users to IM with others using the Jabber IM Open Source protocol. The IM client will also deliver voice communications capabilities using audio algorithms that Google developed themselves. Hmm.. big bad Microsoft ? How about big bad Google folks?

BlueTake BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse & BT009Si Bluetooth USB Adapter
Here’s another review of the BlueTake BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse & BT009Si Bluetooth USB Adapter over at FutureLooks.com. The combination package delivers a Bluetooth receiver for your PC in case it doesn’t have one and a Bluetooth mouse for mobile users who want wireless mousing abilities. There’s even a cute little bag for the mouse to keep it safe from dust and scratches. What’s the verdict?
Overall, I thought that the features, compatibility and looks made it a great addition to any mobile warriors notebook bag. I really liked the USB cord lifeline that made the mouse useable even without battery power, and the little bag to keep the rodent scuff free was a nice touch. This deserves a solid recommendation from me.

VL System M-Play 202 Media Center VFD reviewed
If you have a home grown HTPC and you’d like to add a VFD to the mix, check out the VL System M-Play 202 Media Center VFD reviewed here at ExtremeMHz. Having a VFD display on your HTPC is a great way of display information about what is currently playing or being done without having to turn on the monitor or television set (unless of course you have a small LCD screen EMBEDDED inside the system). The final verdict?
I’m very impressed with this latest offering from VL System. Clean to install, low case clutter, bright display, and lots of customization options…there’s a lot to like about this VFD.

Motorola Q previewed
CNET previews the upcoming Motorola Q smartphone here. The Q’s design is based on the popular Motorola RAZR mobile phone and uses the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 OS. What’s the early verdict from CNET?
Of all the would-be competitors to the Palm Treo 650 we’ve seen, the Motorola Q seems best poised to surpass it. Its sexy form factor is enough to garner a ton of attention. Furthermore, if Windows Mobile 5.0 lives up to Microsoft’s promises, connecting to an enterprise server from a smart phone will be easier than ever.

Samsung SCH-i730 reviewed
MobileBurn reviews the new Samsung SCH-i730 Windows Smartphone here. This is one of the fastest Windows based Smartphones out (although not the smallest by any means) and more importantly, it supports a slew of wireless technologies - from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth to EVDO. While other reviewers have liked the phone, it appears MobileBurn thinks otherwise. Here’s the conclusion:
While the Samsung SCH-i730, with its Bluetooth, WiFi, and EV-DO data support, makes a damn versatile connected PDA device, it just is completely inadequate for most people as a mobile phone. The very poor battery life and even worse reception keep the i730 from being a capable mobile phone. With those two things fixed, Samsung would be on to something. There are other issues, of course, but for a device as large and expensive as the SCH-i730, poor battery life and reception are deal breakers.

Om Malik reviews the HP Mobile Messenger HW 6500
Om Malik reviews the new HP Mobile Messenger HW 6500 here. Om seems rather impressed with the 6500 feature set although he misses Wi-Fi (as well as many of you I’m sure!) I’m tempted to check out this device myself but I’m still holding out for a Verizon Wireless device. What’s the final verdict from Om?
Bottomline: The big downside of the device - its happy as a clam in the Windows world. It doesn’t make magic with a Mac as yet, because most of the existing programs like Pocket Mac don’t work for this particular model. On a scale of 1 to 10, this gets a solid 7 from me. A good buy for those who are looking for a Treo option.
