The TechZone once again reviews the Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74 GB Hard Drive here. WD Raptor’s have always been the hard drive of choice for people looking for high performance drives for RAID configurations. This particular Raptor comes in a 74GB configuration and runs at 10,000 RPM with a Serial ATA interface. How does it perform?
Given a choice between the 36 GB or 74 GB Raptor, we highly recommend the 74 GB unit because 36 GB is simply too little for today’s applications. If you’re a hardcore techie looking for the world’s fastest ATA drives, the Western Digital Raptor will deliver the performance you crave. However, be prepare to pay. This drive is not cheap.
