Intel plans to unveil next generation chip architecture
It’s IDF (Intel Developer Form) time again and this time, Intel plans on releasing details about its next generation chip platform. The new platform takes its roots from the Pentium M platform – emphasizing energy efficiency and performing more work per clock cycle. Other features with the new CPU design will be 64 bit support, increased floating point performance and multicore support. One of the first incarnations of this new platform will be the Merom CPU which will arrive in late 2006.
