There’s an excellent CNN article out describing how some Prius drivers are modifying their cars to achieve even higher mileage out of them. One man got his Prius to deliver 80mpg using a plug in technique whereby the car is plugged into an electrical source while resting to recharge additional batteries that have been added. These extra batteries provide more mileage to the car as long as it doesn’t get too far away from a plug in source. However, the major point to these projects is to show that automobile makers can indeed do more to increase efficiency in cars.
