The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has apparently rejected Apple’s patent application for the iPod’s software interface. Apple has been trying to obtain a patent for the UI for approximately three years now. It looks like a prior patent filing by John Platt of Microsoft is one of the reasons the application was denied.
