Hackers get around Windows Genuine Advantage
Hackers have quickly found a way around Microsoft’s new Windows Genuine Advantage system which prevents pirated copies of Windows XP from getting program updates. The workaround involves using a javascript string that disables the key check used to verify the legitimacy of the user’s OS. What’s pretty amazing is the fact that hackers found the hole within 24 hours of the service starting up. Bad Microsoft code or awesome hackers? (or both?) Microsoft has promised to fix this flaw in the next update to the system but my money is still on the hackers.
