Archos has officially unveiled the Gmini XS 202 on their website. The Gmini XS 202 is as small as most 5GB DAPs on the market yet comes with a 20GB hard drive built inside. Here are some of the features quoted from their website:
* Ultra compact size : measures only 76 x 59 x 19.5 mm and weights 120 grams – 2.9″ x 2.3″ x 0.75″ and 4.2 ounces.
* Autosync with Windows Media® Player 9 or 10: easily transfer songs and playlists from your PC.
* Play MP3, WMA, WAV and Protected WMA files.
* Download and play protected WMA PlaysforSureâ„¢ downloaded files.
* Rename, move, copy, delete files or make playlists on the move without a computer thanks to the ARCHOS Browser.
* Quickly organize songs with the ARCHOS ARCLibrary and view by artist, album, title, genre, year and playlist (ID3 compatible).
* Connect to your stereo to play music (with optional standard audio cable).
* Easily navigate menus using the large and intuitive 2” blue or green back light LCD screen.

Spec wise - it looks pretty good. Looks wise - I still think Archos devices could use a makeover.

I meant to post this yesterday but instead got bogged down at work. News.com had an article detailing the new product announcements made by Motorola on Monday. The highlights were (quoted from News.com):
҉ۢ Moto Q: A thin QWERTY mobile phone built on the Razr design, the Q features e-mail and voicemail running on the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform.

• Razrwire: Motorola and Oakley introduce eyewear that offers active users wireless, hands-free connections to Bluetooth-enabled devices. It will be available in early August.

• Motorola WiMax: Designed to deliver wireless broadband, Motorola’s new Wi4 products will use all-IP technology and peer-to-peer architecture to reduce hierarchical cellular network equipment.

• Ojo: A personal video phone that allows video mail that offers high-quality video and synchronized audio. Users can record a video greeting for incoming calls, and callers can leave a video message.

• Rokr: A family of music phones that offers dedicated music keys, music player interface, extensive memory and long battery life. ”

Jason Dunn over at Digital Media Thoughts managed to spend some time with the Xbox 360 at the Microsoft campus and has some thoughts on the new game console as well as features coming to MCE 2005. Here are two major pieces of information:
* MCE 2005 will soon have a new update known as “Roll Up 2 for Media Center Edition 2005″ (also code named Emerald). This update will add support for the Xbox 360 and will also bring the number of countries supported by the guide in MCE 2005 from 13 to 33.
* Xbox 360 will have a full fledged MCE Extender client providing full user experience with MCE 2005 on the Xbox 360.
Check out the site for more info on what to expect in Xbox 360 and MCE 2005.

While we’re all waiting for the introduction of the Intel based Mac lineup, Apple has refreshed two of the curent lineups with new features. The first update is with the iBook line. The iBook G4’s now come with faster processors, improved graphics, built in wireless and Bluetooth as well as two new Apple technologies - scrolling trackpad and sudden motion sensor. The sudden motion sensor helps park spinning hard drives in case the laptop falls - similar to existing IBM technology found in ThinkPads.

The Mac mini has also been upgraded - with all models now coming with 512MB of RAM. The Mac mini can be found in three versions ranging from the 1.25GHz G4 to the 1.42GHz G4. Check out Apple’s website for more info or go to BIOS mag for more details.

Creative has introduced a “value” MP3 player called the DMP FX100. The player is shaped in a long rectangular design with a backlit LCD screen showing song information. Here are the following features:
* Works with MP3, WMA, WMA DRM
* Comes in Black (for 512MB) and Grey (256 MB) colors
* 17 hours of battery life on a standard AAA battery
* USB 2.0 support

I have no information on pricing yet but I would assume that the player is targeted for the low end music market looking for small yet cheap devices.
