CamcorderInfo has a new review of the Panasonic PV-GS19 here. The specs on the camcorder include:
* SD memory card slot
* USB 2.0 hi-speed port
* 2.5-inch diagonal LCD
* 1.3-second quick start
* 24x optical zoom
What does CamcorderInfo think of it?

As a performer, the PV-GS19 is one of the best in its class. It can’t compete with 3 CCD camcorders, of course, but price tags clearly do not tell the whole story. Panasonic has chosen to respect its customers as what we are all slowly becoming: videographers in training.

MobileBurn has posted up pictures of the Motorola MS500 which is currently available in Korea. The MS500 looks like the current Motorola RAZR phone available here in the US except that the MS500 supports CDMA networks.The MS500 also sports other enhancements:

* 1.3 MP digital camera
* support for EV-DO networks
* slightly larger body to accomodate the larger camera
* improved keypad lighting

It remains to be seen whether a CDMA version of the RAZR will appear here in the US and whether that version will be the MS500 or not.

Sony and Konica are joining forces to develop digital SLR cameras. Digital SLRs have been a missing piece to Sony’s digital camera lineup and thus the joint development makes sense from a Sony standpoint. It also makes sense from a financial viewpoint since SLR cameras generally command a price premium over compact cameras. The new relationship would combine Sony’s expertise in image sensors and battery technologies with Konica’s history in developing SLR cameras and interchangeable lens. The current big players in digital SLRs are Canon and Nikon followed by various other manufacturers.

eHomeUpgrade has a commentary on Longhorn (which also mentions a commentary about the upcoming OS from Micheal Gartenberg) here. The general gist of the commentaries is how Microsoft needs to satisfy two worlds with Longhorn - the business world and the consumer world. These two markets are vastly different and Longhorn has to be important enough to warrant both markets to upgrade. Remember one thing - Microsoft still has problems convincing many businesses to upgrade their old Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 systems to something like Windows XP. Will Longhorn’s features be a need for these markets? It’s hard to tell - but I’ll say this much - why would a small business owner need Avalon on their Windows OS? why would they need the new programming API if all they need is a simple Quicken application?

As for the home front, Microsoft will need to simplify things for the user and this is where I agree with eHomeUpgrade. MCE is a great first step but things could be EASIER. If Microsoft wants to rule the digital home market - they need to simplify the issues similar to how Apple simplified the MP3 market in many ways. Purchase a song for 99 cents.. BAM that’s it.

Samsung has introduced two new LCD monitors - the 17 inch CX712P and the 19 inch CX912P. Both models come in a variety of colors which should match any decor. The 17 inch model has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a refresh rate of 6ms - great for gamers. The coolest feature of these new monitors is the ability to bend the neck and rotate the monitor.
