AMD has announced that it has successfully removed lead from its microprocessors in order to meet European regulations. The company began selling Opteron, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Sempron, and Turion processors without lead since early July. AMD is also working on removing lead from the motherboard chipsets that it sells. EU law requires that products contain less than 0.1 percent of lead, mercury and various other chemicals. Intel has also been manufacturing processors without lead for some time now. Check out ExtremeTech for more details.
