Transmeta sells processor line
I totally missed this story line last week but Transmeta has sold its processor line to a Chinese company called Culturecom. The company has also purchased a license for the 130nm Efficeon technology from Transmeta. The transaction should close by December 2005. Transmeta was once tauted as a company that could produce high performance energy efficient processors for mobile systems. Unfortunately Intel countered with their own mobile initiative that essentially wiped out Transmeta’s chances. Truth is, Crusoe just never lived up to its billing.
