It’s been an interesting day for Apple. First, Apple agreed to settle several class action lawsuits claiming that Apple misrepresented the durability of the batteries found within the Apple iPod. All iPods purchased from the very beginning up until May 31st, 2004 will be eligible for either a one year extension for newer iPods with dock connectors or a 50 dollar rebate (or 25 dollars in cash) on Apple goods for older iPods that have dead batteries. If you find yourself with a dead battery during that extended one year warranty, you will then be eligible for a 50 dollar rebate. More info here at News.com.
On a different note, Apple has launched a recycling program for the iPod. If you decide to return the player to Apple to recycle (assuming you were planning on throwing out the iPod already), you will receive 10 percent off the purchase of a new iPod. More info here.
Finally, it looks like Apple’s stockpile of iPods is growing and that’s causing some uncertainty in the stock price. More on this here.
