PCWorld.com takes a look at ExpressCards
Some of you may not realize this but many of the latest laptops out on the market now support a new standard called ExpressCard. This expansion capability is similar to the older CardBus PC cards but offer many advantages not seen in CardBus systems. ExpressCards are smaller – come in two sizes, and are also easily used on desktop platforms. Why easily? They can interface with USB 2.0 and PCI Express buses making them transportable from the mobile domain to the desktop domain unlike the older CardBus platform. You’ll be seeing more and more ExpressCard format peripherals as time passes and as PC World found – items that need the higher bandwidth of ExpressCard will really shine on this new format.
