Good news folks – the DC Circuit Court of Appeals has tossed out the broadcast flag rule. This rule required future digital television tuners to include “content protection” technologies which meant that these devices would have to honor flags set by the content vendors. Already companies such as TiVo and Microsoft use this flag to protect certain shows from being burned to DVDs etc. The ruling throws this requirement out the window .. at least until the MPAA appeals this.
