MobileBurn reviews the latest Linux Smartphone from Motorola – the A780 – which is a quad band world phone. The unit is an upgraded version of the A768i and comes with a 1.3MP camera, a TransFlash Memory Card slot, support for EDGE networks, and a keypad on the front of the flip cover. What’s the verdict?
On paper, the Motorola A780 looks set to blow away the competition with its strong feature set and various input methods. However, the unfriendly and sluggish UI makes this phone a bit difficult to live with at times. The Linux OS has yet to prove itself in the mobile market, as there are not many applications available for download.
It’s clear that Linux is a viable alternative for mobile smartphones but clearly work needs to be done with UI’s.
