PC Magazine has more coverage on the new Nokia N91 phone. The N91 is a combination phone/music player with an integrated 4 GB hard drive. What’s even more important is this is the first Nokia phone to include Microsoft Windows Media software inside. The OS for the N91 is actually a Symbian OS. Other goodies - You can download songs onto the phone via Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 or EDGE cellular networks. The new phone has a ton of features - here are some:
Line-In
Stereo Recording
Play music through regular headphones or via a Bluetooth headset
Symbian OS
Hook up a keyboard and use Office applications
The list goes on. There’s also information about the other Nokia phones introduced yesterday in the same article.

I thought I’ve seen it all but apparently I haven’t. Check out this site - (http://www.sea-code.com/). It’s software outsourcing on a cruise ship parked 3.1 miles off the coast of LA. They’re far enough away to not be in US waters thus they aren’t subject to US tax laws - the 600+ programmers make more money than they would in India or China but they are still cheaper than labor here in the US .. AND since they are so close to the states, the money that they earn can supposedly funnel back into the US economy (though I have to seriously wonder about that one). Incredible..

Sony has introduced the new VRD-VC20 DVDirect recorder which allows you to record a video source in real time onto a blank DVD or DVD-DL disk. This basically allows you to back up your videos onto DVD-Video formats without the need of a computer in the way. The unit supports video transfers from digital camcorders over Firewire or transfers from analog sources such as VCRs and televisions. The unit is also capable of connecting to a PC via the USB port where you can then create complex DVD authoring projects.

DAPreview reviews the NHJ MPM-201 Portable Media Player here. It’s a portable media player and recorder capable of playing back DivX videos at resolutions up to 720 x 576 and recording at 640 x 480 resolutions. What’s the verdict?

All in all I’m really happy with the MPM-201, and I think it’s worthy of consideration if you’re looking for a PMP/PVP with high-quality playback, a portable photo bucket, or just something to keep your kids quiet in the car.

Documents that have been made available by the FCC appear to show IBM designing a ThinkPad Tablet PC. The unit looks like a ThinkPad X41 notebook except that the screen rotates 180 degrees and can be pressed flat against the keyboard. Gee that sounds a lot like a convertible notebook design. I’ve owned a convertible system from Toshiba before and I think they strike a fine balance between the needs of laptop users and the needs of tablet users. My only complaint at the time was that the model came from Toshiba. Now.. a Tablet PC from IBM would be sweet - even if the PC division was purchased by Lenovo Group. Stay tuned!
