Olympus finally enteres the consumer digital SLR market with the Olympus Evolt E-300 camera. Unfortunately the unit uses the non standard 4/3 lens system which limits the number of choices that a user has for lenses. What’s the final verdict?

The Olympus Evolt E-300 is a very good camera. It’s well-built and yields excellent images. However, you’ll get better high-ISO image quality from Canon and Nikon cameras (as well as better JPEG shooting) and a better lens selection from just about any other camera manufacturer.
