Verizon is moving towards offering a complete lineup of television content over its’ Fios fiber network. It has completed deals with NBC Universal Cable, Movielink, Starz Entertainment Group, Discovery Networks, and now with A&E Television Networks. This move into providing television content over the phone network is seen as a direct challenge to cable providers who have been increasingly competitive in the phone service space. It’ll be interesting to see if Verizon decides to offer some of this content over the V-Cast network too.
