There’s an interesting article over at TechnologyReview.com about “Google and the coming search wars, revisited”. It’s a followup piece to an article written a few months back by the same author about the precarious position Google could be in with the search wars. However, this time around, the author considers the main challenger (which of course would be Microsoft) and wonders whether they really have it in them to compete against the likes of Google and Yahoo. I’m not sure if I truly agree with all of the arguments that the author asserts – in particular, I don’t think it’s wise to count Microsoft out of the picture. Sure Google is worth a lot right now.. but it’s still nothing in comparison to Microsoft and Gates has been known to bring the company 180 degrees at a time if necessary.
