Time Warner Cable begins cell phone trials
News.com is reporting that Time Warner Cable is testing mobile phone services in Kansas City. It’s a good indication that cable providers will soon be entering the wireless market that is now dominated by the likes of Baby Bells (Cingular and Verizon). With phone companies directly competing against cable operators in the ISP market, it makes sense for cable companies to get into phone service too. Besides wireless service, expect VoIP services down the road from the major cable operators. The mobile phone trials being conducted by Time Warner Cable are using the Sprint PCS service and phones.
